Director of Sales
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Sales to lead our sales strategy and execution in the automation equipment industry. This individual will be responsible for overseeing our Directors of Business Development and Application Engineers, ensuring alignment between technical capabilities and market opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in manufacturing or technical sales, with a deep understanding of automation systems and integration.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to drive revenue growth and market expansion.
- Create a rolling 12-month sales forecast and hold teams accountable.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Business Development and Application Engineering teams.
- Collaborate with and have a positive impact on engineering and project management teams to ensure customer requirements are accurately captured and delivered.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in target industries (e.g., automotive, electronics, packaging, etc.).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions.
- Track KPIs to measure team performance and sales effectiveness.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical or manufacturing sales, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of automation equipment, systems integration, and industrial manufacturing processes.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to build, coach, and mentor high-performing teams.
- Proven ability to develop and close multiple, complex, high-value deals.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a project-based environment.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and sales analytics tools.
- Strategic thinker with a high sense of urgency.
